Little Boy Angel Crib Sets Tips

May-31-2009 By Paula

When you’re preparing a nursery for a new little arrival, you will want to consider which theme, option, and style, will best suit your boy’s personality. When you choose a theme for your child’s bedding, you can often decorate the rest of the room in the same style. Here are some things you can think about if you do not yet have an idea of what you want for your bedding theme.

It’s a good idea to buy masculine colors for little boys. Don’t be afraid that it may be tacky – strong colors can be very fashionable. One of the best examples available is Trend Lab’s brown and blue Prep School Blue crib bedding. The bedding incorporates a variety of colors including caramel, chocolate, blue, and white.

Boys and girls love animal themes, but the favorite animal choice may differ according to the child’s gender. Cute little animals like bunny rabbits and baby chicks will tend to appeal to girls more, while larger wild themed animals like tigers and lions will likely appeal to boys. For an infant boy a Noah’s Ark theme is nice. If you want a theme that will grow with your son choose a jungle theme instead.

Every little boy loves to play cowboy, so this would be a good theme. Fabrics such as ultra suede, leather, denim and plaid lend a genuine appearance to the many available cowboy themes. If you want cowboy style bedding, the popular images are sheriff stars, horses, and wagons, featured in the baby bedding crib sets. In cowboy themes fleece and flannel are favorite fabrics for baby blankets.

When older men can enjoy sports, why not little boys? You can get specific team sets, although usually the team is the favorite of the parents’, not the child. Some can be more specific, with bedding sets that feature solely baseball, football, and soccer images. For a theme that your son can grow into, a general sports theme is best because you can’t predict what specific sports your son will grow to love.

If your intention is to have more than one child, there is another way to buy infant bedding. Rather than going with a masculine theme for the nursery, try to utilize a non gender specific motif that can be reused for your next baby. Children begin to have their own choices as they become toddlers and every child is able to select a preferred theme for his room this way. Winnie the Pooh, geometric patterns, numbers and alphabets are great bets for bedding sets for both boys and girls.

Be a careful shopper if you are in the market for baby boy bedding. It may be tempting to buy frilly bedding for an infant but when he gets older, you will have to replace it, so buying something more masculine would be more economical in the long run. Many cribs now convert to toddler beds as they use the same standard size crib mattress.  Keep this in mind when purchasing bedding as you will want it to last more than a few years.

First Birthday Gifts

May-30-2009 By Paula

A beautiful and unique birthday present for his first birthday will certainly make him extremely happy. This will be his first celebration that will truly make him feel special and well-loved. This is all the more reason the gifts must be extra special. I know for a fact that you want something really wonderful and that you can have it for a lengthy time period. Usual toys, of course, are good presents, but a 1st birthday souvenir is a remembrance of how special the baby celebrant is.

What Types of Baby Gifts are there for a First Birthday?

A first birthday album would be perfect. The 1st birthday celebration photos can be attached to serve as a reminder of that special day. This souvenir will be something memorable for him in a couple of years. At first, the celebrant won’t be able to enjoy the things given to him, but give him a year or two and he will start playing with them.

The 1st birthday presents could include a variety of toys for the little one. There is a tool set which he can play with his father. Of course, his tools squeak and are made of a very soft material for little hands. A walker with a lot of blocks has 2 benefits. They can learn to walk by holding on to the handle and play with blocks when they are tired and need to sit down.

A personalised t-shirt with your baby’s name printed on the front would also make an extraordinary gift that can be put away after he outgrows it. Every proud mother would want to keep the small keepsakes during those times when her little one was still young. Placing them in a box will help them recall that this baby was very small when he came into this world.

More great 1st birthday presents could include a microwave puppy. They should be placed in the microwave for a few mintues to make them perfect for snuggling. Princesses are lovely! Why not give her a princess in the castle activity bag on her 1st birthday. A fire engine activity bag for the little fireman would be a perfect gift. There are a lot of first birthday presents that you can find.

Naturally since this is the first birthday it will be celebrated with family and friends who all want to wish the little one a happy birthday. If you want, you can have your own little celebration without anyone but the family. Then a different one can take place at the end of the week for your relatives. Make sure that everyone will be present.

The first birthday is a special birthday because this means you also have made it through the first year of parenthood even if at times you thought it was impossible. It is really surprising how you instantly became adaptable to two.m. feedings? I’m sure you have waited for this celebration. It has finally arrived and you want to make it very memorable even if the baby is still very young. Likewise, these are just some of the meaningful events for the parents.

What ideas do you think about when you encounter the words toddler bedding? If an ordinary bed sheet that you use on your own bed would work, then is it really even necessary? Would it be expensive to buy bedding especially made for toddlers, and what is the purpose of doing this? You would certainly be having many questions. For the most commonly asked questions, here are some quick answers.

Do I need toddler bedding? Once your child is a toddler, you should be sure to buy bedding specifically for a toddler bed. When a child gets to a certain age they can no longer sleep in a crib or a playpen. It is for this reason that bedding designed for toddlers must be made from high-quality fabrics that will give a secure fit. The use of standard sized crib bedding for a convertible crib or a toddler bed using most likely allow you to reuse your crib sets.

Can I just take a normal bed sheet and modify it to fit a toddler bed? You need to be certain to purchase bedding that can fit a toddler bed instead of just using an ordinary bed sheet. Sleep for your daughter will only be as good as the amount of comfort afforded by her bedding. Because a toddler’s skin is more sensitive than an adults, normal bedding might be unhealthy for their skin. If the bed sheet is too big for the toddler bed, it is easy to be untidy and by the same token difficult for your child to have continuous sleeping at night.

Are there many different options for toddler bedding? Contrary to popular belief there are numerous choices of bedding out there. Many stores and websites selling baby bedding also sell toddler bedding. If you’re lucky you can come across toddler bedding that matches what you’ve already been using so you don’t have to start from scratch. Maya toddler nursery bedding by Trend Lab, being a great sample of the kind, is the toddler type for the popularly bought Maya crib bedding. Available in various styles, colors, designs, etc., toddler bedding is specifically created with toddlers in mind.

One may ask whether or not toddler bedding is costly. Toddler bedding can vary in price depending on the quality of the materials and whether they meet safety regulations. There are many less expensive bedding sets available, which are better considering that your child would not remain in a toddler bed for a long time.

How many toddler crib sets will I need to purchase? Buying two sets will serve you well so that you can put one set on the bed, while the other is in the laundry. You really don’t need a bunch of bedding sets if you only have one infant. Parents who also have children who are younger will be able to reuse toddler bedding sets again in the future, so should not worry about having too many sets.

Your child’s satisfaction is paramount, so don’t rush when you’re shopping for toddler bedding, making sure the quality and softness of the materials matches your needs. This will set your mind at ease and ensure your baby’s bed is as comfortable as it can be.

Pink Crib Sets for Your Little One

May-28-2009 By Paula

If it is girl, then it is pink. Choose pink baby bedding for your little girl. It is always the colour used for many themes including fairies, ballerinas, butterflies and flowers. Your daughter is still too young to decide on room decor, so make sure that you like her nursery. Remember, you’ll be in your baby’s room almost as often as she will!

Before you shop, set a budget for yourself, and decide which items you most need. This will help you to bypass that $500 crib set that your wallet can’t really handle. You probably aren’t going to know exactly what you’re looking for before you start shopping, so it makes sense to do a little planning before you start. Pink bedding for babies is wonderful. There are an astounding number of choices at any price point.

Among the necessary items for your new baby girl’s room, the all-too important one is crib bedding for girls. You do not need to buy a lot of accessories to have a good, comfortable nursery. However, a few matching items can really pull the overall design together. Think about your budget before you shop for your new baby’s nursery. Make sure to get the essentials, and then splurge on the extras. Go for a bedding set to be within your budget. This is the best option since these will usually include a blanket, crib sheet and bumper pad. If you like, you can go beyond the basic crib set and purchase ones with other nursery accessories included.

When choosing crib sheets you should look for soft, top quality cotton. Even though crib blankets come in many different materials, fleece blankets are one of your best choices. Let’s face it: babies’ diapers leak. While mattress pads are optional, they are certainly recommended as they will be useful in protecting in the case of an accident.

There are differing views on whether or not to use baby bumpers, so you will have to decide for yourself what’s best. The purpose of bumpers is to prevent baby from knocking her head against the hard crib, and from getting her limbs caught between the rails. The crucial thing to remember is that, to avoid the risk of suffocation, all items of soft bedding should be removed from a new born baby’s crib. On attaining the age when your daughter can change sides and move in the bed, there is lesser chance of choking and at that stage to prevent her from falling you may need bumper pads.

Pink bedding has the advantage of being much more color-fast than darker colors, and if you choose cotton materials they are conveniently machine washable. Since a baby’s skin is very sensitive, it is best to use gentle, fragrance-free detergents when laundering crib sets. A newborn baby’s crib should be very comfortable considering the infant will spend more than half of his time in it.

Most people prefer pink for their baby girls but it is certainly not the only option. If you choose to go for a modern look rather than pastels, then opt for Trend Lab’s Maya baby bedding set. Brilliant colored bedding sets without a pinch of pink in them are available for baby girls.

Does your baby sleep safely?

May-24-2009 By Paula

Newborns spend most of their time sleeping. They can sleep for more than 16 hours in a day, spending up to 3 to 4 hours sleeping during each rest period. Therefore considering the huge amount of time infants sleep, it is essential to find out some safety issues regarding baby’s sleep.

First and foremost, co-sleeping with your baby is not safe. For parents who usually fall into deep sleeps, they might inadvertently crush or suffocate the baby. In addition, babies usually co-sleep together on their parents’ bed, there are heavy quilts and blankets that might accidently cover their face and cause the babies to suffocate too.

Looking at all these dangers of co-sleeping, try to let your child sleep in a baby nursery bedding. Sleeping in a crib will have no dangers of parents accidently turning onto their babies. Besides, there shouldn’t be any adult’s heavy quilts and blankets that may cause the baby to choke while sleeping. Therefore, parents are encouraged to get a baby nursery bedding for your little one to sleep in as it is safer than co-sleeping with the baby’s parents.

The use of blankets has also been dissuade by many as they are afraid that the blanket may carelessly cover the baby’s head, however some parents are afraid that their baby may catch a cold at night. Actually, there is a safe way of using a blanket that can avoid such incidents from happening during the baby’s rest. Just make sure that when your child is in the baby nursery bedding, his feet touches the end of the crib and the blanket should not be covered any higher than his chest. In this way, it will not be easy for your baby to be covered by the blanket and it will be safer for your baby when he sleeps at night.

Another way of sleeping safely is to always let your baby sleep on her back. Babies sleeping on their front may have risks of choking when your baby carelessly places his face down onto the mattress. Infants are too weak to roll around and recover from such a dangerous position. Therefore letting your child sleep on her back in the baby nursery bedding will be the safest option.

Some baby sleep better on their tummy because their heart is close to something which makes them feel safe and at ease. However, it is still not recommended to let your baby sleep on her front untill, possibly when she has the strength to be able to toss and turn around in bed by herself.

When your baby goes to bed, try to let your baby wear light sleep clothing to avoid your baby from feeling too warm. Your baby’s sleeping area should be kept at room temperature so that your baby will feel neither too cold nor warm. In the event.

Looking at all these factors and assess your baby’s sleeping area carefully. Let your precious one sleep safely and comfortably and you will be able to sleep well throughout the night too!

There is a little doubt that a great percentage of working parent’s wages goes toward child care facilities. Parents need someone to take care of their children while they are working but sometimes wonder how they can ever afford to pay out such high fees. The differences in charges vary from city to city, but no matter where the family is located, it sometimes causes doubt as to whether or not the second parent is simply working to pay for childcare. There are many things that can affect the cost, so before you begin looking, you need to be aware of the basics.

Child care facilities differ across the country. In more urban areas the costs will be higher but you can expect more from the preschool. The higher income areas will have private schools that reflect this level of affluence. Some are well worth every penny, as they provide services above and beyond those typically found in small towns where the wage level is low.

Infants are charged a higher fee than toddlers. The reason being infants require more care and more staff to oversee than older children. Child care centers must pay close attention to the staff-to-infant ratio to ensure that the infants are receiving the highest possible care they can give. Changing diapers and feeding bottles is much more time consuming than working with a potty trained toddler who can feed him or her self.

Other factors that can change pricing between the differing child care facilities is how many services are being offered. A babysitter in your home will usually not provide the extended hours most working parents require. If you have hours that extend from the typical 9-5 work day or have a long commute, you will need a daycare center that has extended hours of pick-up and drop-off. Also, the more added benefits, such as providing meals and snacks will affect the price of too. Many centers now offer activities based on the child’s age such as computers, foreign language and even martial arts or gymnastics. Many centers allow the parent to elect these options for an additional fee but some are building them into the curriculum and daily activity list.

Before you begin searching through the available child care facilities in your neighborhood, first ask yourself what you want in return for your money. Do you want advanced education and extras such as dance classes or computer instruction? Each of those extras in the classroom equate to extra money you will have to pay out of your wallet. If you cannot afford those, there are still quality childcare centers that can take care of your child and provide a safe haven for him or her to play and learn.

Milestones from 1 to 2 Years

May-22-2009 By Paula

Every parent awaits in anticipation to see their child walk and talk. Before your child gets prepared for any action, his body has to get developed for that particular action. The development within babies varies due to many external factors.

Nutrition plays a vital role in development. Sleep is the maximum growth period. Realize that new born babies sleep almost all day. Duration of sleep varies with age. Your baby is always growing so at this age take care of what you feed. When he reaches one year, he will begin to pick things up, try getting into a standing position, feed himself and clap his hands. His muscles also increase day by day.

If you feed your baby with more nutritious food, growth and development will be faster. A malnourished baby does not develop soon. At the time your baby reaches 13 to 15 months, he will play with his toys and try to talk. He will also walk without support. Some babies walk during 6 months. This is very unusual. Toys play important part in developing babies. Your baby will move his hands and legs and try to dance if you play a bosendorfer baby grand musical instrument. When he reaches 18 to 20 months, he will not only walk but run and walk up stairs. Now he can feed himself very well and play with building blocks. Also he will like to look at cartoons and watch television. At this age your baby will say quite a lot of words and do a lot of mischief.

As soon as your baby reaches his second birthday, he will become more active and get indulged in mischief quite often messing things around. Now this is your part to maintain safety precautions at home. Since every child is different, you need to be more or less careful about your baby. At this time your baby will dump and fall into everything and hurt himself too often. See to it that he does not hurt his head because head is still very sensitive and internal injury might affect later.

Taking great care can help your baby develop better and you can enjoy watching him as he grows.

Baby Gates, A New Standard

May-21-2009 By Paula

We have all tossed around the phrase “size matters”. We see it used in TV ads, in news papers, and most often as a joke amongst friends.

When it comes to baby gates and pet gates today, it seems that size truly does matter.

The norm of only a couple of years ago would have been a gate that extended to a maximum of 38 inches in width. These gates were set up most often in a doorway.

The average household door is still around 34 inches, so the old standard will still do the job in many situations … doesn’t it?

We are now seeing a very different demand in the gate marketplace today. The average gate that is purchased today, extends from 38 to 50 inches.

We know that doorway sizes have not been changing, so what is causing this change in the standard? I believe that it is mostly a phenomenon of the movement toward open concept homes.

Most homes will have several doorways throughout the house, but we rarely see actual doors anywhere other than bedrooms, bathrooms and occasionally on stairways.

Newly constructed homes or older homes that are remodelled find new ways of creating separation from one room to another, without detracting from the open concept of the home.

These could be archways or half walls where the opening between rooms is much wider than the old standard door frames.

This change in home design also creates a very different approach to home decor. Adjoining rooms need to have a flow to them and yet provide distinct design features.

The opening between these adjoining rooms needs to enable the decor flow from one design to the other.

The new standard in baby gates and pet gates is not only a new width requirement, it must also enable this design flow between adjoining rooms.

The growing need for multiple width options, gate designs and colors that suit your decor, is being heard by most gate manufacturers.

We can no longer focus just on the functionality when considering a gate purchase.

You have probably spent a considerable amount of time and money on the look of your home, so all I am saying is that you should also consider the various gate design options to ensure that your gate will match well with your decor.

Start by identifying your dimension requirement, and how you want the gate to operate.

Then you should consider the color that will best enable the design flow between your rooms, and whether an enhanced gate design would add to the decor or detract from it.

Thinking through all of these considerations will result in a much simpler buying experience, and a better chance that you will be pleased with your gate once you have installed it.

I truly believe that gate manufacturers are doing their best to address these needs, but wouldn’t it be great if they could go one step further, by providing multiple color or wood stain options.

It would be great if a manufacturer was to step forward and offer a design-a-gate service. How about if a gate manufacturer allowed you to create your own unique gate that matched your width, height, color and design requirements.

We are probably several years away from a service like this, but it doesn’t hurt to dream a little.
